The Story That Wouldn’t Stay Short
When I first began creating Unexpected Allies, it was meant to be a short story; something intimate, emotional, and compelling enough to accompany my YouTube Digital Story Series. I wanted to give viewers a glimpse into a world filled with ambition, tension, complicated choices, and the kind of chemistry that quietly built until it can no longer be ignored.
But somewhere along the way, Aisha Perriman and Ethan Hawthorne surprised me.
Aisha arrived on the page with purpose. She is brilliant, determined, familiar, and deeply aware of what it means to enter rooms that were never built with her in mind. Ethan, at first glance, seems like the man who already belongs in those rooms—the expected winner, the polished future partner, the one the system is prepared to reward. Yet as their story unfolded, I found myself drawn to the layers between them: the friction, the respect, the questions of loyalty, justice, ambition, and what love looks like when it is tested by power.
What began as a companion piece became something larger. I fell in love with Aisha and Ethan enough to give them the space they deserved—a full-length novel where their choices, wounds, victories, and connection could breathe.
The video short of Unexpected Allies offers a first look into that world: a story where corporate ambition collides with betrayal, where being seen matters as much as being loved, and where two people must decide whether they are truly on the same side when everything is on the line.
